Alloa Radio Flying club was formed in April 1970 with about 10 members when radio control of models was still a novelty and when many of the radio sets included the use of valves.

These early sets were unreliable and fly-aways were common which is why the club used Sherrifmuir as a meeting place and flying site.

At a later stage a field was rented near Coalsnaughton and after a number of years the club moved to the present site at Westhaugh, Alva.

The club also rents a back-up field near Blairdrummond

Membership now stands at about 30 and includes affiliation to the Scottish Aeromodellers Association which is the governing body for modelling in Scotland. This membership also includes third party insurance.
